This book was CREE-PY! Told from the point of view of a 5 year old boy who was born and raised in the 11x11 prison cell that his mother was being held captive in by her abductor. When i say it is creepy, it is not so much what you read about what is happening. More like what is implied and the damage that has been done to this young boy due to sensory deprivation. To make his world a more pleasant one, his mother told him that only she and he were real humans and everything they see on TV is pretend. The man that would come and visit some nights was not human (in her story) and Jack had to hide in the wardrobe every night so the man could never see him. And they played games, like “Scream” where they screamed as loudly as they could, but only on weekdays.
The mother also had bad teeth, after not brushing them properly for a number of years and would cause her agonizing pain. Which I could totally relate to. My tooth is still not fixed. I wanted to cry this afternoon when the dentist told me that I need to schedule another appointment to do a root canal, and that this tooth is broken as well. It depends on how it is broken, as to how best fix it. He can’t tell how it is broken until he drills into it and has a look. If it is cracked down into the root, then it will probably need to be pulled, but this dentist doesn’t do extractions. My dental plan’s cap is $1500, I have been told it will be $1100-2000 for the exploration/root canal. Not to mention refilling the tooth with stuff and the crown I will need. I should get a crown for my other cracked tooth, but it isn’t hurting me anymore, so definitely can wait until the next calendar year (new cap). I think this is going to cost me at least $3000 and that is after getting reimbursed.
I hope Alice appreciates her nice strong bones and teeth. Andrew heard from someone he met on the ferry, that there is a saying that if baby’s teeth are slow to grow in, that means they are strong (the teeth) and Alice is only just now getting her upper teeth. They have taken almost a month to start to poke through. I have bought myself some chocolate milk, because I don’t like the taste of milk and I really have no source of calcium right now, other than the occasional latte and a bit of cheese here and there. I also hate pills and always forget to take them. I might change that stance though because my stomach doesn’t care for milk much either.
I called my regular dentist to get a quote on just pulling the stupid tooth out to start with and to either live with a hole in my mouth or to get a bridge done, I find out tomorrow how much that will cost. I just want it to stop hurting.
