Clean Up

I’ve tried to spend most of the weekend cleaning the house and organizing a bit as well.  Yesterday, Sacha was helping me organize shoes. I put all the summer sandals away into a box and swept the cupboard.  I always think of myself as a person who only has the minimum amount of shoes but I also wear shoes until they are falling off my feet and usually buy about one pair per year.  So I had about 12 pairs of shoes in there. I  threw away two because they were just done, and there were two more pairs that probably could at least be donated.

Sacha also helped me sweep the whole main floor and for the first time ever he was a legitimate help rather than hindrance.  There was one instance where he dropped the full dust pan back on the floor, but accidents happen and we just swept up again.

I also went through both Alice and Sacha’s drawers and took out all the clothes they have out grown.  It is hard for Sacha because pants that tend to fit him around the waist look like capri pants on him now.  He has two categories of pants.  Ones with belt loops and ones with out.  The belt loop pants being the superior kind.  There is a sub-class of belt loop pants, that have small belt loops which are also inferior to proper belt looped pants but better than nothing.   He is obsessed with knights and swords right now and always wants to be armed and ready (this is why belt loops are important).  He has fashioned himself a sheath out of many items, oven mitts were especially memorable.
