Odds and Sods

I am so tired today.  I am doing official training this week and I knew I would be staying late tomorrow and Wednesday but found out at 2:30pm today that I was needed to stay until 5pm tonight.  Add an hour commute on each way and it makes for almost a 12 hour day.  So in one way it is good that the family is apart right now, because I can really devote myself to work and hopefully impress people.  It is not like I have to rush home and cook dinner for anyone but myself.  And I can go to bed at 8:30 if I feel like it (which I think I do tonight).

This weekend, I was up on the coast.  I went down into our storage area and brought up one big box of Sacha’s old baby toys.  There were a couple little wooden blocks, a bunch of big foam blocks that we bought in Russia, a hammer game and a little bear that rides a bike.  These toys are all way too young for Sacha, although he still really likes the hammer game, but it is hard for him to let Alice play with them.  She likes the big blocks in particular, I think because they are light, soft, squishy and colourful.

Also down in the basement was a box of clothes that I was given for Sacha, but 18 months ago when we moved into the house they were all way to big for him.  So we sorted through and I was getting him to try on things and choose if he liked things.  I waited a bit too long for a couple items and they were already too small.  But it was very cute, because when Sacha found certain items that he liked, like a pair of shorts with sharks on them, and a t-shirt with a baseball player on it, he kept saying “Lets buy these”.  I reassured him we could buy everything in the box that he liked, as long as it fit.  We ended up “buying” a couple items that he didn’t like specifically but that fit him well.

Unfortunately right when I left to catch the ferry back to Vancouver, Sacha got into a bottle of nail polish (which was high up on our dresser and should have been out of reach for anyone but a little monkey).  So he had his hands scrubbed with nail polish remover and a time out right before I left.  He hated the smell of the remover and we let him have nail polish on his toes but he had gotten it everywhere on his hands, and our bed sheets.  Hopefully we can have a couple good Skypes this weekend.
