Cake Walk

Sacha’s preschool had a Kids Halloween Extravaganza this afternoon as a fundraiser.  They had lots of games, decorating cookies, masks, glowbowling, a candy table and a table full of bowls where you had to put your hand in blind foldedIMG_3132 and feel gross things like wet noodles and I think one was pomegranates in Jell-O.  They also had a cake walk.  I had baked a pretty cool cake to donate.  4 layer devil’s food cake with Swiss meringue butter cream icing and smarties all over it.  I was kind of hoping that my cake was cool enough to get picked first, BUT Sacha ended up winning the first cake walk so we told him he couldn’t pick mine.  He chose a pretty cool spiderweb cake instead. I don’t really know if he totally got what was going on, or why he got to pick a cake.

This is my masterpiece.  It was chosen 3rd and I am happy with that.  There was another cool one that was shaped like a snake and another with fondant moulded pumpkins.  Pretty impressive turn out in the baking department all around.

Sacha didn’t want to leave but I had to catch the ferry back to Vancouver and Andrew had to get groceries before I left.  It is really hard to shop with both of them, especially with Sacha on a sugar bender.  Tomorrow night should be interesting.
